Indian female shuttler PV Sindhu took on Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the semifinal match of Women’s Single Badminton at Rio Olympics 2016. Both Sindhu and Okumura gave a tough fight to each other. However, Sindhu emerged victorious in the highly competitive match. The victory has ensured silver for the Indian athlete. Meanwhile, Okuhara would compete for the bronze medal. PV Sindhu defeated Nozomi Okuhara in a two-straight victory. The final scores are : 21-19, 21-10. This is by far, the most dominating victory of any Indian athlete at Rio Olympics 2016. If she continues with this form, Sindhu could bag the gold medal on Friday. PV Sindhu has remained the most impressive performer of the Indian contingent so far. Sindhu successfully won the Round of 16, and subsequently defeated China’s Wang Yihan in the quarterfinal. However, she had a cumbersome task in the semifinal match, taking on Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara. Earlier, Spain’s Carolina Marin defeated Chinese shuttler Li Xuerui in the semi-finals event. The finals would be played on Friday at 7:30 PM as per Indian Standard Time (IST). Sindhu would take on Caroline Marin, who has defeated her earlier at the Shanghai Grand Prix. The match is expected to be highly competitive.
